The best way to heal lungs is to stop vaping, as vaping inflames and damages the lungs. The abundance of chemicals found in vape products and the ultrafine particles that can be inhaled deep into the lungs creates havoc to lung health. Freeing the lungs from these harmful substances likely helps start the healing process.

The American Cancer Society suggests there is an improvement in lung function as early as 2 weeks to 3 months after quitting traditional cigarettes. Further enhanced lung function may be experienced 1 to 12 months later. Quitting vaping may follow the same timelines. In one small study involving four chronic vapers, each with a 3 to 8 year history of using a variety of vape devices, a partial reversal of their chronic lung disease over 1 to 4 years was experienced when vaping stopped. Duration and intensity of vaping probably dictates the extent of lung healing, however, it is never too late to stop.
